What to expect during a keratin treatment?
Your hairstylist will begin by assessing your hair type, texture, and condition to determine the best type of Keratin Treatment for you. They may ask you questions about your hair care routine and any previous chemical treatments you have had.
Your hairstylist will then prepare your hair for the Keratin Treatment by washing it with a clarifying shampoo to remove any buildup or residue.
Next, the Keratin Treatment solution will be applied to your hair in sections. Your hairstylist will use a brush to distribute the product evenly and ensure that every strand is covered.
Depending on the type of Keratin Treatment used, the processing time may vary from 30 minutes to one hour. During this time, your hairstylist may use heat to help activate the product and bond it to your hair.
Once the processing time is complete, your hairstylist will rinse your hair thoroughly with water to remove any remaining product. They will then blow-dry your hair to smooth it out and prepare it for the final step.
The final step of the Keratin Treatment process is flat ironing your hair to seal the product into the hair strands. Your hairstylist will use a high-heat flat iron to straighten your hair in small sections, making sure that every strand is evenly coated with the product.
After the Keratin Treatment is complete, your hairstylist will provide you with aftercare instructions to ensure that the treatment lasts as long as possible. This may include avoiding shampoo for a few days, avoiding heat styling tools, and using specific hair care products to maintain the treatment.

How to Care for Your Hair After a Keratin Smoothing Treatment
Wait at least 48 hours before washing your hair after the treatment. This will give the keratin time to bond with your hair and provide the best results.
To protect your hair and extend the longevity of your treatment, use a sulfate-free shampoo. Heat can damage your hair and reduce the longevity of your keratin smoothing treatment. If you must use heat styling tools, use a heat protectant, and use a low setting on your hair straighteners.
Chlorine and saltwater can damage your hair, so it’s important to protect it when swimming. Wear a swim cap or apply a leave-in conditioner before swimming to protect your hair.
